Thank you for your interest in Liverpool Citizen Advocacy
What we do...
Liverpool Citizen Advocacy (LCA) promotes a form of active citizenship, in which one member of the community makes a commitment to protecting and promoting the rights of another who is in a position of particular disadvantage and/or social exclusion. These rights-focussed relationships are what we call community partnerships.
Remembering our friends
In April of this year, we heard the very sad news of the sudden death of Nigel Mellor, who had been a particularly good and generous friend to Liverpool Citizen Advocacy. That was followed in May with news of the passing of George Monaghan following a brave fight against cancer. For many years, George had authored and facilitated quizzes at St Bede's and elsewhere. This was initially for Channel but, in recent years, for the Agnes Woodford Project as well as for several other charities. We are still drawing upon an archive of his quizzes for our regular fundraising events.
On 30th July, we heard the sad news of the death of James Evans following a brave fight against illness. James was a loyal supporter of our Organisation and especially our quiz nights over many years. During the gloomy days of lockdown, it was James who set us up on Zoom. That allowed us to have some light relief and to raise much needed funds for our work, and we will be forever grateful to him for that.
Nigel, George and James were all present at celebrations at our community base over the years. They were remembered at a very well attended memorial quiz night at St Bede's on 22nd September. They and their loved ones remain in our thoughts.
